Configuration Tool

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The Configuration Tool provides a comprehensive interface for managing and analyzing controller configurations. It supports two primary functions: image management and configuration compare, starting with CPA4 release 4.3.0. For an offline compare this tool is also available in the Offline CPA4.

Device Image Management

Users can create or write a device image to a connected controller. During the image creation process - Read from Device, the tool allows selective inclusion of configuration components—specifically, device settings and/or interface settings—based on user preference. This enables tailored image generation for various deployment scenarios, such as partial configuration updates or full system replication. The image writing process - Write to Device - is safeguarded by validation mechanisms to ensure compatibility.

Configuration Comparison

The Compare tool provides advanced comparison capabilities to detect and analyze differences between configuration datasets. Supported comparison modes include:

Diagnostic File vs. Diagnostic File: Compare two saved diagnostic files to identify configuration changes or discrepancies.

Connected Device vs. Connected Device: Evaluate the settings of two connected controllers to ensure uniformity across devices.

Connected Device vs. Diagnostic File: Cross-check a controller’s current configuration against a reference diagnostic file to verify compliance or detect modifications.
